thulThis kitchen spoon set has three useful tools: a rice spoon, an oil spoon and a spatula. Skilled Sri Lankan craftsmen make each piece by hand from coconut shell and wood. Together, they cover most of your daily cooking and serving.
What is in the kitchen spoon set
The set has three pieces. The rice spoon is about 12 inches long and 4 inches wide. The oil spoon is about 13 inches long and 3.5 inches wide. The kithul wood spatula is about 12 inches long and 2 inches wide. So, you get one tool for serving, one for frying and one for turning food.
How to use each spoon in the set
First, use the rice spoon to serve rice, curry and dhal. Next, the oil spoon has small holes, so it lifts fried food and drains the oil. In Sri Lanka, people have used spoons like this for deep frying for many years. Finally, use the spatula to turn and lift food in the pan.
Made from coconut shell and wood
The bowls of the two spoons are real coconut shell. The rice spoon has a carved kithul palm wood handle, and the oil spoon has a plain wooden ladle handle. Also, the spatula is made entirely of kithul wood. First, our craftsmen cut and shape each piece by hand. Then they polish it. As a result, the surface is smooth and comfortable to hold. Also, every piece has its own natural pattern.
Why choose a wooden kitchen spoon set
Wooden spoons are gentle on your pots and pans, so they will not scratch non-stick surfaces. In addition, they are non-toxic and eco friendly. Moreover, this kitchen spoon set is easy to clean and easy to store. Finally, it makes a lovely gift for a housewarming or a new home.
How to care for your kitchen spoon set
Wash the spoons by hand with mild soap and warm water. Then dry them well, and keep them dry after use. Do not soak them, and do not use a dishwasher. Please note that each piece is handmade, so the size and colour can differ a little from the photo.
